The high-end Chinese Smartphone OnePlus 5 was launched in June 2017 and liked by the people but o 21st November 2017 the OnePlus 5 been superseded by the OnePlus 5T. This was a welcome surprise for many as both the phones are in the same range but the 5T has many more features and looks much sleek too. And as the news goes OnePlus 5T won’t be old along with the OnePlus 5, rather it’s going to be sold in its place.

But what exactly are the major differences in both these devices? Let’s take a look and see.

One of the most obvious changes that you see at the first look between the two smartphones is the display. The screen looks dramatically bigger in OnePlus 5T. It measures 6 inches diagonally and is also brighter with punchier colours and higher resolution. The OnePlus 5T has a higher screen to body ratio of around 80 percent and the OnePlus 5 is around 74 percent. The bezels that were prominent in OnePlus 5 is almost gone in 5T. OnePlus 5T is all about the screen. The fingerprint scanner has shifted to the back panel and the hardware capacitive buttons have gone missing. Otherwise, there are no aesthetic differences in terms of build in both the devices. The build quality remains the same as both the phones have a sturdy build with Anodized Aluminium.
The new device is also a bit bigger with a measurement of 156.1x75x7.3mm while the OnePlus 5 is 154.2x74.1x7.25mm.As for now, the OnePlus 5T is available in just one colour-  Midnight Black colour while the OnePlus 5 came in Midnight Black, Slate Gray, and Soft Gold colours.

The OnePlus 5T is the first OnePlus smartphone to get a bezel-less display. OnePlus 5T is a 6.01-inch display with 1080P resolution while the OnePlus 5 has a 5.5-inch display. The new device has a 18:9 aspect ratio dominating the front panel as compared to 16:9 aspect ratio of OnePlus 5.The OnePlus 5T, like most new gen smartphones, is all screen.

OnePlus 5T comes with few very interesting and up-to-date features which its predecessor misses out on. Other than the smooth bezel-less experience, the new OnePlus 5T comes with Face Unlock feature which works exactly like the Face ID on the Apple iPhone X.
Hardware: Both the smartphones are powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor and both come in two variants- a 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant and an 8GB RAM/ 128GB storage option.

Software: OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T both run on latest version of the OxygenOS based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
Battery: Both OnePlus5 and OnePlus 5T are powered by a huge and long-lasting 3300 mAhnon-removable battery which supports Dash Charging,


OnePlus has upgraded the camera on the 5T. While the camera looks almost the same externally the OnePlus 5 T has got a new telephoto lens in its dual shooter. The new telephoto lens carries exactly similar 16-megapixel Sony IMX398 primary lens with f/1.7 aperture. The secondary lens is a 20-megapixel Sony IMX376K sensor with a wider aperture whereas in OnePlus 5 there was a 20-megapixel Sony IMX350 sensor.
This change makes the pictures taken in low light too equally sharp. There is also an 'Intelligent Pixel Technology' for capturing more efficient images in low-light situations.
The selfie camera on both the smartphone remains same with a 16-megapixel Sony IMX371 sensor, also seen on the OnePlus 5.

  


OnePlus 5T vs OnePlus 5 Price

OnePlus 5T has been launched in India at Rs. 32,999 for the 6GB RAM/ 64GB inbuilt storage variant, and Rs. 37,999 for the 8GB RAM/ 128GB model. This is exactly the same as OnePlus 5. Right now the OnePlus 5T is available only online, the regular sale of the smartphone will kick start on 28th November 2018.


If you have not yet bought a OnePlus device then definitely you must go for OnePlus 5T, it’s a phone that is worth every penny you spend on fabulous features. The 5T has focused and improved on all the areas OnePlus 5 was lacking on.
