OnePlus 6T vs OnePlus 6: Is there any difference?

Half a year has been passed since the launch of OnePlus 6 and now OnePlus 6T has now launched. The “T” is usually the updated version of previously launched OnePlus devices and this year it happened too. But the question remains the same, is it a great choice to upgrade to OnePlus 6T? Is newly launched 6T any better? Let’s find out in this OnePlus 6 vs OnePlus 6T article.

OnePlus 6T vs OnePlus 6 design
Both the devices have a metal frame and a slightly curved glass back. While the OnePlus 6T is 157.5 x 74.8 x 8.2mm and weighs 185g, the OnePlus 6 is 155.7 x 75.4 x 7.75mm and weighs 177g. So there is not much difference, but the OnePlus 6T is slightly thicker, taller and heavier than the OnePlus 6. This is something you would not expect, but it is true.
The huge difference that comes to display is the tinier notch in OnePlus 6T which is termed as “Teardrop” notch. The notch has been reduced significantly and so display size increases. Also, the back is clean since the Fingerprint reader at back has been removed and has shifted at beneath the front display. The 6T now has an in display fingerprint scanner, which is fast obviously.

The display size got a little bigger. The OnePlus 6T comes with a 6.41-inch 1080 x 2340 AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, while the OnePlus 6 has a 6.28-inch 1080 x 2280 AMOLED screen with an aspect ratio of 19:9.
The OnePlus 6T should also have a stronger display, as it is protected by Gorilla Glass 6, while the OnePlus 6 uses Gorilla Glass 5.

OnePlus 6T vs OnePlus 6 OS and power

There is nothing major difference in here, OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 6 both use a Snapdragon 845 chipset and come with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM.
Both phones also come with either 128GB or 256GB of storage, though there’s additionally a 64GB model for the OnePlus 6.
Though the 6T comes with Android Pie out of the box OnePlus 6 is also upgradable, hence no difference here as well.
The 6T also has a Smart Boost feature. The feature helps to make apps load faster by keeping some part of the app into the RAM; the feature uses an ample amount of storage that comes with the device.

Both the device has a dual camera setup on the rear which comprises of a 16MP f/1.7 sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 20MP f/1.7. Both the phones also have a 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera on the front.
The battery has seen a bigger improvement since 6T employs a 3,700 mAh battery instead of 3,300 mAh a seen in OnePlus 6. Both the phones support fast charging through and take up an almost equal time to charge fully. So the battery is better in 6T.

Conclusion

The OnePlus 6T has seen a significant upgrade in some ways but it is not much of a big deal. The on-screen fingerprint scanner and smaller notch are perhaps the main selling point of OnePlus 6T. Besides that, a bigger battery and display is also an upgrade you will see with the 6T.
If you already have OnePlus 6 then you won’t find any reason to upgrade to 6T since there is no point of upgrading a phone in just 6 months. But if you are running a lower end model of OnePlus or any other device then you should definitely consider this over OnePlus 6.
